Kids Are Special!
|
For over 40 years Tim Johnson has made "kid issues" a special part of his career and personal life. In the 1980's he created and produced an anti-drug program with rock star Harvey Jett of Black Oak Arkansas fame. Thousands of children at over 25 schools in Wyandotte County viewed the live program. A movie filmed at schools and the Lansing State Prison was shared with an even larger audience and portions appeared on national television. The program resulted in recognition from the Kansas Public Education Task Force in 1988 and then 1st Lady Barbara Bush. |
Additionally Tim Johnson has maintained a "faith based ministry" for children which has seen him perform on television, radio, and at countless churches and schools. His website Messages For Children is a compilation of many of his youth messages and videos. The video above was taped at Trinity Lutheran Church in Basehor.
Mr. Johnson served as a Special Investigator in child abuse for the State of Kansas for a number of years, something that served to install in him a desire to improve conditions for foster care, adoption, and children's rights. His specialized training and skills in the forensic interviewing of younger child abuse victims became a trademark of his special investigative skills.
Through his church, Tim has worked with Lutherans for Life and will continue to support the values of "Right To Life". In 2024 he was appointed to the Board for Lutheran High School in Kansas City, Missouri.

Education
Growing up in an extended family of educators, school and advanced education was a daily fact of life for Tim Johnson. Coming from a Swedish-American family that highly prized education as a way to improve financial and social status, taking advantage of educational opportunities was a must.
One of Mr. Johnson's guiding principals in education is that no two students learn the same way and that just throwing money at education is not the answer. Well funded academic programs are a must, but he believes Kansas must be sure that we support diversified programs such as Career-Technical-Education and Community College vocational and certification programs throughout the state. |

Because of his own desire to benefit from educational opportunities, Tim Johnson has completed graduate degrees at both Wichita State in Criminal Justice and at Pittsburg State in Education and an undergraduate degree at Bethany College in Lindsborg. He is also a graduate of the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Academy.
