Honor Mentor Tammy Potts
​Basehor-Linwood Schools

    On March 6th, 2024, the entire House of Representatives honored Basehor-Linwood Educator Tammy Potts for her service to education through the Kansas Mentor and Care Cats programs.  She initiated the programs starting in 1999 and continued until her retirement in December 2023.
     With Rep. Underhill relating information on the mentor program startup with Coach Bill Snyder and Potts serving as one of the originators under his guidance, Tammy was presented with a framed certificate.
     In addition to the House Resolution, Tammy Potts also received a state award later in the morning from the Kansas State Mentor Association.  She was accompanied to the podium by her husband.

​During the 2023-2024 sessions, Rep. Johnson individually or as a group sponsored the ​following
​resolutions of honor or commendation:

HCR5004 - Urging the U.S. Congress to fully fund the federal government's original funding promise under the individuals with disabilities education act.
HCR5014 - Directing the joint committee on fiduciary financial institutions oversight to study and draft legislation relating to environmental, social and governance standards.
HCR5020 - Proposing a constitutional amendment to amend section 4 of the Kansas bill of rights to recognize the right to bear arms as a fundamental right that includes the possession and use of ammunition, firearm accessories and firearm components, and that any restrictions on such right are subject to the strict scrutiny standard.
HR6006 - Congratulating and commending the 2023 Kansas Teacher of the Year team.
HR6013 - Strengthening the sister-state ties between the State of Kansas and Taiwan.
HR6015 - Commemorating the celebration of St. Patrick's Day.
HR6017 - Commemorating the 50th anniversary of the National Wild Turkey Federation.
HR6018 - Reaffirming Kansas’ commitment to internal combustion engine vehicles.
HR6030 - Condemning the October 7 attacks on the State of Israel.
HR6031 - Supporting the strengthening of Kansas' trade partnership with Ireland.
HR6035 - Affirming state sovereignty and supporting Texas in its efforts to combat illegal immigration.
HR6039 - Affirming the commitment to freedom of expression with integrity
HR6041 - Congratulating Goodwill of Western Missouri and Eastern Kansas on its 130th anniversary in 2024.

100th Birthday Of Vet Wilbur Grisham

On January 21, 2023, Rep Johnson presented a certificate signed by the Leavenworth and Jefferson County Delegation as well as reading a message from Speaker of the House Dan Hawkins.  The event was held at the Basehor VFW Hall.

Resolution Honoring the Roadrunners April 2022

     On April 25, 2022, the Vietnam Veterans from the 68-69 era in the Vietnam War, were honored at the State Capitol by Rep. Johnson.  A highly decorated combat unit that fought in many battles, the squad was celebrating their 52nd reunion since the war.  Each received a certificate from one of the House representatives who served in the military.
     The members received a standing ovation from the House and gallery, truly a welcome home.

In the 2021-2022 session, Rep. Tim Johnson co-sponsored the following resolutions:
HCR5008 - Urging the U.S. congress to extend daylight saving time throughout the year for the whole nation.
HR6008 - Urging the President of the United States to honor surviving World War II Medal of Honor recipients with designated state funerals.
HR6011 - Honoring the Kansas Army and Air National Guard.
HR6013 - Recognizing Music in Our Schools Month.
HR6014 - Strengthening the sister-state ties between the State of Kansas and Taiwan.

HR6016 - Designating May 3, 2021, as Michael Mosher Day.

HR6018 - Condemning the recent attacks on the State of Israel.

Resolution Honoring Sheriff Don Ash

     On December 10th, 2021, Rep. Johnson presented Wyandotte County Sheriff Don Ash with a proclamation at the Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kansas.  Ash served 12 years as Sheriff and completed 50 years in Law Enforcement.  Rep. Johnson is a former Wyandotte County Undersheriff.

75th Anniversary Olathe
​Noon Optimists

     In October 2021, Rep. Johnson was the featured speaker in Olathe for the 75th Anniversary of the Olathe Noon Optimist Club.  As part of the program, Tim presented the out going president a Proclamation from the Kansas House of Representatives honoring the event.

Steve & Rosie Williams, Commendation by Veterans & Military Committee for service to Vietnam Vets and publication of "Nine Pairs of Boots In Vietnam."  Presented May 26, 2021.

Rosie and Steve reside in the Topeka area and are retired and work hard to assist veterans with PTSD.  Their new book was published in the winter of 2021.  Steve Williams was instrumental in testifying before the legislature on the need for a new veterans home in northeast Kansas.

Major Rob Oliver (US Army Ret.)
Commendation & Bronze Star Plate for valor presented in April of 2021

Rob Oliver resides in the Linwood area and is now on a medical retirement after serving first with the US Army as a chopper pilot in the Gulf War and then as a Deputy Sheriff for Leavenworth County.

Bob Wiley VFW Post, Basehor, Kansas
​Commendation for "Voice of Democracy Program" and school education programs.  Presented in February 2021.

The Basehor VFW is one of the most active in the State of Kansas.  Their educational outreach to the schools and other programs is a tribute to vets.  Several members of the post supported the legislative effort to build a new vet's home in northeast Kansas.  The bill was signed into law by the governor in April.

Rebecca Farrow, Commendation for winning 4A Women's Powerlifting Championship in March of 2021

Rebecca was presented her commendation after winning the individual 132 Women's Powerlifting  State Title as a student from Tonganoxie, Kansas.  She is a junior in high school and received her award from co-sponsor Rep. Lance Neelly.  Was presented at Trinity Lutheran Church in Basehor.

Basehor-Linwood HS Honor Society
Commendation to NHS Sponsor Alex Verbenec & Principal Jarred Fuhrman.  Presented in February 2021.

The National Honor Society was recognized during their induction ceremony at the high school in March.  Rep. Johnson served as the guest speaker for the event before several hundred in attendance.  The event was held at the high school gym in Basehor.  Certificates were issued to both Verbenec and Fuhrman.
